Passover Y'shua Parallel

Passover

Y'shua

The family was to remove all the leaven

from the house before they began the

Passover

Y'shua ran the money lenders out of

the temple before the Passover

The priest stayed up all night preparing

for Passover

Y'shua was up all night in Gethsemane

praying and preparing for the crucifixion

(Matt 26:36-46; Mark 32-42)

The sacrifice was a lamb

"Behold the Lamb of God who takes

away the sins of the world" John 1:29

The lamb was

without blemish

Y'shua was

without sin

The lamb was set aside for four days

(Exodus 12:3-6)

Y'shua was on public display for four

days (John 12:12-16)

The death penalty was imposed upon

the chosen lamb

Y'shua, chosen of YHWH, came to

receive the death penalty for us

The lamb had to be brought by the

family

YHWH brought his son, the Lamb, to

be sacrificed (John 3:16, John 10:15,

John 10:18)

The lamb had a plaque around its neck

with the family’s name inscribed on it

YHWH labeled his lamb with the

plaque on the cross

The lamb’s throat was slit

Y'shua was cut in the side by the spear

(Jn 19:37; Zech 12:10, Zech 13:6)

The lambs were slaughtered by the

priests

Y'shua was given up to be crucified

by the priests and Pharisees

(Mt 26:47,57; Mt 27:42; Jn 18:3-14,)

The final lamb was killed at 3:00 pm

(the ninth hour)

Y'shua died at 3:00 (Lk 23:44,

Mt 27:46-50; Mk 15:34-35)

The priest slaughtered the paschal

lamb at 3:00, then lifted his hands in

the shape of a shin (C)) and said

"It is finished"

Y'shua died @ 3:00 after saying "It

is finished with his hands outstretched

on the cross

The lamb’s bones were not broken

(Ex 12:46; Num 9:12)

Y'shua’s bones were not broken

(Jn 19:36, Ps 34:20)

The blood of the lamb applied to the

door posts saved the first born of each

house by causing the angel of death to

pass over that house (Ex 12:7)

Y'shua’s death took away the keys

of sin and death, opened the door to

healing, and saved us (Is 53:4-6,

1:18; Jn 3:16-17, 3:14; Rm 5:9;

 Num 21:8-9)

The lamb was roasted on a stake

Y'shua died on the cross

(John 3:14)

The lamb had to be eaten that same

night (Ex 12:8-10)

Y'shua suffered, was crucified and

died on the same night

The blood was placed on the door posts

with a branch of hyssop. Heb 9:19-26.

"For when every commandment had been

spoken by Moses to all the people

according to the law (Torah), he took the

blood of the calves and the goats, with

water and scarlet wool and hyssop,

and sprinkled both on the book and the

people…"

Y'shua was the Passover lamb, was

given sour wine (vinegar) on a branch

on hyssop, Yahshua’s blood fulfilled

the covenant (Ps 51:7; Jn 19:29)

The thread turned from red (scarlet) to

white (snow)

When Y'shua was pierced with the

spear, blood came out then water

(Jn 19:34)

The thread on the door of the temple

never turned white again.

Y'shua was the final sin offering

(Heb 10:12, 10:14; 9:26

2 goats, one for YHWH, and one was

the scapegoat onto which were

transferred the sins of the people and

was pushed off a cliff (Yom Kippir)

(Lev 16:8-10)

Y'shua was for the sin offering,

Barabbas (Bar-abba= son of the

Father) was released with sin still on

him- he was the scapegoat.

The middle piece of matzah is taken out

and broken (afikomen)

Y'shua left the Father and the Ruach

HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to come to earth

and be broken for us

(Phil 2:5-11; Jn 1:1-5)

Had to eat the flesh of the lamb

on the same night

Y'shua died and removed from the

cross on the same day.

Matzah is wrapped in a linen napkin

Y'shua was wrapped in linen and

 hidden away in the tomb

(Mt 27:59; Mk 15:46;

Lk 23:53; Jn 19:40)

Child finds the afikomen but the

Father unwraps it.

The Father unwrapped and

raised Y'shua

The child and the father dicker over a

prize. The Father gives a token on his

promise of the prize to come later –

"The Promise of the Father"

When Y'shua arose he told his talmudim

(disciples) to await the "promise of the

Father" which was the Holy Spirit- the

 Ruach HaKodesh (Lk 24:49a)
